We often travel in spring around the globe and enjoy the cherry blossom season with it’s beautiful views. In this guide, I’ll show you the best countries to travel in April or late March. Also I’ll tell you where exactly to go in each country to see the best of Spring blossoms.

April is a great month to visit many countries in the world, but some of them have the prettiest Cherry Blossom Season. I’m sure you’ve seen the jaw-dropping cherry blossom season in Japan on social media. And yes that’s a must-visit country in April and March.

But if you don’t want to travel that far, we’ve also some of the best European destinations cities in April, that will steal your heart. I mean a spring day in Paris is almost always on my list at the end of March. Also Toronto in Canada, where I live offers some of the most beautiful spring seasons in the world. Europe is one of the best places to go to in April. Most of the European cities, specially at the south, like France, Italy, Austria, Germany, Spain have a beautiful cherry blossom season. But not all of them are offering mild weathers at the end of April.

Of course the weather in April hits different in Northern Europe rather than in the south and depends on the kind of getaway you’re planning for your spring break, you can choose the best destination to go for your Spring break.

Each city in Europe offers a different vacation atmosphere during April and March. For example, while you can enjoy the beautiful tulip farms in Amsterdam, the weather is still quite cold at the beginning of April. On the other hand, Orange blossoms come out in Porto and Lisbon at the end of February, and you can walk around with a thin coat.

1. France, Paris: For a Cultural Getaway

Although I love Paris all-year-round, but spring in Paris is unmissable. I almost travel every year at the end of March to Paris, just to enjoy the beautiful Blossoms all over the Streets of Paris.

The Weather in April and March is quite mild in Paris, and although it might be rainy, but you have some sunny days as well. Outdoor patios comes to life and you can sit outside, enjoying your lunch. Blossoms are all over the city and even a walk along the Champs-Elysée would give you that picturesque view of the spring.

When do cherry blossoms bloom in Paris?

Well it depends on the year, but normally I am traveling to Pairs at the end of March and it’s always full of blossoms. So the best time to visit Paris for the cherry Blossoms is from late-March to early-April.

What to do in Paris during Spring?

Visit Eiffel Tower & Champ de Mars

April is an excellent time to visit the Eiffel Tower, as queues are still shorter than in the peak summer months. Also Champ de Mars is one of the best places in Paris for a great spring picnic. Because this beautiful street is full of blooming trees and best views of the tower as you can see in my first photo.

We definitely suggest to visit the Eiffel Tower from inside for the first-timers. The views of the city of Paris are stunning and Eiffel Tower is huge. So it’s a must-do for the first-timers.

Take a walk at Jardin des Tuileries

Jardin es Tuileries is one of the most beautiful gardens in Paris, during spring. This beautiful park is basically located between the Louvre Museum and Place de la Concorde. In April, flowers bloom throughout the garden and we love to take a walk to admire the blossoms.

France is one of the best countries to travel in April, because of it’s beautiful gardens. And this beautiful spot is one of them You can easily combine your visit with a Seine cruise or visiting Louvre Museum.

• Parc des Buttes-Chaumont: This is a hilly park in northern Paris and it’s known for it’s scenic lake and cherry blossoms.
• Ile de la Cité & Notre-Dame Cathedral: Ile de la Cité is the home to Notre-Dame Cathedral and is full of beautiful river views. We love to take a walk along the river in the old streets of Paris.
• Montmartre & Sacré-Coeur: I love to visit Montmartre specially at night. If you’re visiting Paris, don’t miss this beautiful historical place. 2. Netherlands: Best European country to visit in April

Netherlands is definitely one of the Top 10 Best countries to travel in April in Europe. Specially if you’re a tulip lover, you’ll be surrounded by tulips all over the city and those scenic canals I try to travel to the Netherlands every spring, nothing beats that tulip season there.

April is definitely a much better suggestion than March, because the weather is milder and you can see more blooms. Netherlands is the best European country to visit in April.

What to do in Netherlands during Spring?

I love to go to Amsterdam and do Day-trips all over Netherlands and spring is the most beautiful time to do so. Also the good thing about Netherlands is that it’s a small country and you can stay in one city and travel within an hour to many beautiful towns.

Although there are so many things to do in Netherlands in April, but if there’s only one thing you have to do is to visit Keukenhof. Keukenhof is one of the most beautiful (if not the most beautiful one) tulip farms in the world, so make sure you’ll put that on your list for spring time.

When is the Best time to visit Keukenhof?

I normally visit Keukenhof from Mid-April to the end of April. Because March is kind of rainy and too cold, but April the flowers are in full bloom. May can be a bit tricky, if the year is too hot.

How to Visit Keukenhof Tulip Gardens

Keukenhof gardens are only open from March to mid-May and I find the best time to visit Keukenhof is from mid-April to mid-May. That’s because in March the flowers are not all in full bloom and normally the weather is still a bit chilly.

We also recommend to book your hotels and tours, as early as you can, because the prices can increase closer to spring months.

Tips for visiting Keukenhof:

• Tickets are 19 Euros, and we recommend to book in advance.
• There’s also a huge parking next to it, if you’re driving there. But go early.
• You can get a bus to Keukenhof from the Amsterdam at the bus station, but we prefer to book a tour. It’s with a shuttle bus transfer and Entry ticket all in one for 35 Euros. Book your Keukenhof Tour here.

Here we’ll go through a smaller list of the things you can’t miss in Amsterdam in April:

• Canal Cruise is normally the first thing we do, when visiting Amsterdam. This is the best way to visit the canals. You can either book your cruise online. Or you can just visit Damrak (near Amsterdam Central Station) and get the tickets there. But online is easier and less crowded. Here is the link for the Cruise booking.

• Visit Anne Frank House: This is another beautiful museum, you can’t miss. For me it was as if I’m traveling back in time. You can book the tickets only online on the Anne Frank House official website. Book early, as it sells out very fast. we normally book a month in advance. Here is the link.
• Vondelpark: This park is a perfect place for a bike ride or a picnic day. We love to take a walk there, when it’s full of tulips in spring. We recommend to rent a bike and drive through the park. It’s huge and full of blooms. Rent your bike in Amsterdam here.

Hotel Nhow Rai Amsterdam

Another great hotel, we stayed at last year, was the Nhow Hotel Rai Amsterdam. This modern hotel is located 2 stations away from the city, close to the Amsterdam Exhibition place (Rai Amsterdam) and offers fantastic room views over the city.

Also the Bar and breakfast room at the top floor has the best view point of Amsterdam city. We really enjoyed our stay there and having the metro 2 minutes away from the hotel, makes it quite easy to stay close to the city, without being in the busy downtown.

3. Italy, Amalfi Coast: Always beautiful

Southern Italy is also one of the best countries to travel in spring. If you’re looking for a warm destination with incredible views, Amalfi Coast should be on your list. The reason we love Amalfi in spring, is not only because of the mild weather, it’s also because of the lower prices.

Italy in general is a perfect destination for spring, because of it’s pleasant weather in spring. But if I have to chose one region in Italy, then I would definitely go for the southern part of Italy.

If paradise has an address on earth, that’s surely in Amalfi somewhere. Amalfi Coast and Sicily is one of the best spring break destinations in Europe. We love to visit Amalfi in spring for hiking the path of the Gods.

Amazing things to Do in Amalfi Coast in April

• Visit Positano: Positano is the most beautiful town at the Amalfi Coast and a must-visit. You can easily spend a full day in Positano, enjoying the views.
• Explore the Amalfi Town: Amalfi town is another beautiful city with a historical cathedral to visit. Also we love to take a walk at the seaside promenade in Amalfi.
• Visit the Gardens of Ravello: If you’re into Mediterranean gardens and panoramic ocean views, you should also visit Ravello. Ravello is around 20 minutes drive from Amalfi and the views are breathtaking as well.

Best Tours in Amalfi Coast:

If you’re not driving to Amalfi Coast with your own car, then you have different public transportation options to go from town to town. I highly recommend to travel with ferries between the towns. And that’s because the views from water are just jaw-dropping.

There are also local buses available between the towns and although it’s easy to drive with them around the coast, but in summer can be quite crowded. Also it takes much longer than a tour.

4.England, London: Countryside and charming

London is one of my favorite European cities to visit in April. In general, England looks out of a fairytale in spring and you can’t just stop waling around. I know it’s rainy and wet, but those green parks and blooms make the city and the countryside alive.

England is one of the best countries to travel in April and May. Weather in April is mild, with a mix of sunny days and some rainy days. Don’t forget to take layers and a rain jacket. I am obsessed with Magnolia flowers during spring in London, which makes every house so picturesque.

Amazing things to do in London During Spring

What I love about London, is that it’s fully packed with historical landmarks, museums and beautiful neighborhoods. I find Spring the best time to visit London, because there are less tourists and you can enjoy the cherry blossom season. Also the hotel prices are more affordable than during the summer months.

My top 3 activities to do in London in April.:

• Visit Hyde Park: Both Hyde Park & Kensington Gardens are always on the top of our lists in spring. Take a walk along the lakes and enjoy the bloomy views.
• Explore Buckingham Palace: As you might know, Buckingham Palace is the official residence of the King, so you can’t always visit the palace from inside. But the State Rooms are usually open from late July to September. So they are closed in April, but still take a walk around the Palace and enjoy the blooms.
• Big Ben & Houses of Parliament: another must-visit place in London is the big ben and it’s the most iconic photo spot in London.

A Must-See in London: One of the most iconic things to experience is the Changing of the Guard. That starts normally at 11am and takes around 45 minutes. you can also check the schedule here, because it’s not everyday. But it’s totally worth it.

5. Germany, Munich: Long walks and Alp hikes

After living more than the half of my life in Munich, nothings beats the view of the Alps in the spring time. I love to take long hikes around Munich, Tegernsee and Garnish to enjoy the back-to-life of the nature. The Peach blossoms are insanely beautiful in Munich and just by walking around the city, you can see it everywhere.

When do cherry blossoms bloom in Munich

In general you can expect the cherry Blossoms in Germany from end of March to mid-May. Of course it depends on the year, but the full bloom is normally mid-April to early -May.

Things to do in Munich in Spring

There are so many things to do in April , no matter when you’re visiting this beautiful city, but as a local who lived there more than 25 years, here are the best places to visit in April in Munich City:

• Visit the Englischer Garten : This is one of the most beautiful gardens in Europe and we love to do bike tours around the park or have a beer at the Seehaus Biergarten with the view of the lake. Also don’t miss to visit the Chinese Tower in the middle of the Garden.
• Explore the Nymphenburger Palace: Germany is full of beautiful castles and Nymphenburger Palace is one of my favorite ones. It also has a huge garden and park behind the palace, which makes it fantastic for a long walk. The good thing is that this palace is directly in the city and you can easily reach there in 10 minutes ride from the city center.
• Stroll thourhg the Olympiapark – Another must-visit park which is huge and full of sport activities is the Olympiapark. You can easily spend a day in the park, visiting the events and festivals , as well as the lakes and biergarten. Also I recommend to visit the BMW world, which is next to it.

3 Amazing Day-tour from Munich you can’t miss

There are so many beautiful cities and small towns around Munich, you simply can’t miss. But as a traveler you won’t have so much time, so i suggest to visit at least these 2 Must-visit Tours from/In Munich:

For those who like to visit a country in April with a temperature over 20°C, Spain is a great place. It’s one of the best countries to travel in April and May. Traveling to Spain, almost any time of the year, I found spring the best time to enjoy the cities in mild weather and less tourists. Also the hotel prices are definitely more affordable than in the high-season.

There are so many beautiful regions and towns in Spain to visit during Spring, but if you’re a first-timer, then Barcelona should be on the top of your list. In this guide we will show you 2 of our favorite spring destinations in Spain during April and May. Let’s start with Barcelona.

Actually April is the ideal time to visit Barcelona, with a pleasant weather. You can easily walk around and see all the attractions without waiting in long lines. Although it’s less crowded, but the city is still lively and full of events. What I love about Barcelona is that you also have a beach directly in the city.

• La Sagrada Familia: This timeless treasure should be on the top of your list and some visitors don’t go inside. We highly recommend to visit La Sagrada Familia from inside and enjoy the breathtaking view of the light reflecting inside, as you can see in our photo above. This is our most favorite Mid-Range hotel in Barcelona and we love to stay there. It has one of the best locations, as it’s in front of the Cathedral of Barcelona in the Gothic Quarter.

7. Southern Spain: A warm destination to visit in April

As said Spain is one of the most beautiful countries to visit during April and southern Spain is almost always mild and sunny. Seville is oneo f Spain’s most instagrammable city and in spring is full of blossoms and flowers.

Also there are lots of orange trees and festivals all around the city. April is a great time to visit the Southern part of Spain to avoid the high-season crowd.

Honestly Seville is a kind of city, that you just need to walk around and enjoy the views. This city is breathtaking and lively. Spring is one of the best times to visit Southern Spain, beacuse the weather is still midl and enjoyable.

In April there is the famous Feria de Abril (April Fair), which is a week-long celebration with flamenco dancing, and Andalusian costumes

• Visit The Royal Alcázar of Seville: As you can see above this is one of the most beautiful palaces in Spain & Europe. Seville for me really looks like a small heaven, with fountains, blossoms and the palace itself. But Seville is extremely crowded in April, as it’s a great spring destination. So you definitely need to book the tickets for the Royal Alcázar in advance.

• Explore Plaza de España: which is one of the most iconic places in Seville. Just walk along the canal and the bridges. This beautiful Plaza is located inside the Parque de Maria Luisa, which is totally stunning during the spring time. full of orange trees and blossoms.
• Stroll through the Barrio Santa Cruz: This is the heart of the old city of Seville. We love to walk down the narrow streets full of orange trees. In April the city will be full of flowers and a real summer feeling. This area has the best tapas restaurants and Cafés.

Traveling around the world, I must say that after Japan, Toronto is the most beautiful country to visit in April for it’s Cherry Blossoms. • Visit High Park: You should definitely prepare yourself for this heaven. Cherry Blossom Season in Toronto is full of colors and High Park Toronto is the best place to visit during April and May.
• Get a $9 Ferry to Toronto Islands: Another breathtaking place in Toronto is the Toronto Islands. You can get the ferry from Ferry Station at the Front street and after a 10 minutes drive, you’ll be at the Islands. Consider renting a bike and drive around.

• York University in Toronto Downtown: Another great place to take a walk by the water and just enjoying the view of the Cherry Blossoms is the area around the York University in Toronto.

Japan is at the top of my list for the Cherry Blossom Season. This beautiful country is a must-visit during the Sakura in April. The Views are jaw-dropping and the river views with the cherry blossoms look so dreamy. Also the Fuji Mountain at the backside, makes it an unbeatable destination for Spring getaways.

Weather in April in Japan is very mild around 15-20°C, which is perfect for walking around and enjoy the river boat rides. Also for sightseeing spring is one of the best times to visit Japan. I love Tokyo’s Sakura for it’s mixture of modern life, unbeatable nature and the true Japanese tradition.

In Tokyo you can expect Cherry Blossoms in late march, but early April is more safe to book your trip and it will stay around 2 weeks. The first week of April is normally the best time to travel to Tokyo for the Sakura season.

What to do in Tokyo in Spring?

Basically you just need to walk around and explore all the parks to see the cherry blossoms. But our favorite places to visit in April in Tokyo are these 3:

Places to visit in Tokyo in Spring

• Shinjuku Gyoen Garden is the most beautiful park in Tokyo. I never want to leave that park, specially in Spring. There is a small entrance fee but it’s so worth it. It has different Cherry tree varieties, so it’s best to visit in April.
• Meguro River: Post card views and most romantic place in Tokyo during spring. Go there close to the sunset for the best shots. Also there are lots of small Cafes and food stalls along the river. I love the atmosphere there.
• Yoyogi Park: It’s next to Meiji Shrine and locals love to do picnics there. IT’s a great place to relax and enjoy the blossoms. Entry is free and I would combine it to visit Harajuku and Meiji Shrine as well.

Best Tours in Tokyo

If you want to take only one Day-tour, that should be the day-tour to Fuji with Lake Kawaguchi, Oshino Hakkai and Lake Ashi. The views are just breathtaking. This tour takes around 10 hours and costs only around $60 and it’s a must-visit. Book your tour here.
